Reflection
This artifact is related to balance of power: empires rise and fall. This particular topic was chosen because Britain's influences in Taiwan can only possibly mean Britain's rise and imperialism that marked Taiwan with a major change.
B) Which other main topics does it also relate to?
This can also relate to urbanization: construction of a modern city, because of imperialism, Taiwan was almost "reconstruct" into British styled buildings, environment, and much more.
2) Why did you choose this artifact, and how much time did you spend creating and/ or processing it?
I chose this artifact because "a picture is worth a thousand words". Just one picture can explain a story, a life, and a generation of people. I spent the whole day taking pictures during the field trip and about 4 to 5 hours creating the prezi.
3) What insights and understanding have you gained from the creation and/or processing of this artifact?
This artifact made me understand how Britain started transforming Taiwan into their way of architecture, spreading their style through imperialism and interacting with the Chinese people to negotiate terms of agreements.
4) Does this artifact reflect your best work and/or ideas? Why, or why not?
This artifact reflects my best work because it allows me to tell my view of the story I see in the picture. The pictures can be taken through my perspective and through an artistic angle like that of professional photographs.
